Key topics covered included fundamentals of health research, formulation of research questions and hypotheses, literature review, study designs, sampling methods, and measurement of variables. Students were also introduced to basic biostatistics, data types and distributions, ethics in research, informed consent, data collection methods, and data management.

Over the three days, students actively participated in discussions, explored and developed novel and interesting research questions, culminating in a preliminary research proposal. We endeavour to maintain the momentum, continue engaging with the students, and provide mentorship to help them translate these ideas into implementable research and publishable work.

We are grateful to MIMS for their administrative and logistical support and to the students for their energy and participation.
